U.S. employers cut a smaller than expected 36,000 jobs in February, leaving the unemployment rate unchanged at 9.7 percent, according to a government report on Friday which said it was unclear how severe weather had impacted payrolls.

Retail sales in Britain dived 1.8% in January from December as heavy snowfall and icy roads kept consumers away from shops, official data show today. ‘The weather had a significant impact on retail sales in January,’ the Office for National Statistics said in a statement.
