Two Big Advantages of Electric Radiant Floor Heating

Are you thinking about getting electric radiant floor heating but you are not sure whether underfloor heating is for you? There’s a lot more to having this kind of floor heating than warm floors. Here are two big advantages of choosing this kind of heating for your home.

  • Prolonged boiler life – When you operate your boiler at the lower temperatures, you are extending its life. Radiant heating systems normally use the water temperatures of about 85-140 degrees, and this compares to the baseboard systems that usually operate between 130-160 degrees. With these temperatures, the life of a boiler may exceed 45 years, although this is not guaranteed.
  • Quiet operation – Radiant floor heating’s really quiet. As opposed to forced air, there’s no noise from airflow or a fan through the ducts. There’s usually no gurgling of the water through the radiators or any creaking from contraction and expansion. Its primary noise is going to be from circulating pumps and that fan that’s used for power-venting your boiler. If the system has tubing on the bottom of wood flooring, there could be creaking from contraction and expansion.
