A low-pressure weather system hovering over the northern Yucatan Peninsula and the south-central Gulf of Mexico has a 30 percent chance of evolving into a tropical depression or more severe storm over the next 48 hours, according to the National Hurricane Center’s 2 p.m. ET update Tuesday.
