A tropical weather system in the Caribbean Sea became less organized overnight, but still has a high probability — a 60 percent chance — of becoming a tropical depression or more serious storm over the next 48 hours, the National Hurricane Center said in its 8 a.m. ET Wednesday update.

Blue skies and warm weather lie ahead for the holiday weekend. Independence Day weekend will be full of sunny skies and great weather for parades, fireworks and grilling, according to meteorologist Andrew Snyder of the National Weather Service in Wilmington.
