Bad weather in Russia leaves over 90,000 people without power supplies

A wave of cold weather accompanied by gales that swept across Northwest Russia has caused a blackout in almost 1,500 towns and communities, the Emergency Situations’ Ministry reports.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. NOAA’s National Weather Service (NWS) Office of Science and Technology will provide $400,000 to the Renaissance Computing Institute (RENCI) to develop and evaluate technologies that will help the emergency management community prepare for and respond to weather events such as hurricanes, tornadoes, blizzards, and floods.

Bad Weather Hampers Recovery of Bodies at Plane Crash Site in Pakistan

Heavy rains and bad weather on Thursday hampered efforts of the rescue teams at the site of the air crash of a Pakistani passenger plane, which killed 152 passengers and crew members.
