AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP, Mich. The National Weather Service says one tornado was confirmed during a series of severe thunderstorms that moved across the southern part of the state on Friday.

National Weather Service Confirms Three Tornadoes

The National Weather Service confirmed an EF2 tornado touched down Saturday afternoon in Chautauqua County. It also confirmed two more tornadoes from Saturday, in Cattaraugus County.

Weather service: Downburst winds caused damage in storm

TAYLORVILLE The National Weather Service has determined that downburst winds estimated at 80 to 90 mph, and not a tornado, damaged trees and buildings in Taylorville during storms that rolled through the area Monday afternoon.

Weather radios in Hampton Roads stopped working Wednesday night because of a damaged transmitter that serves the area, said Dan Proch, a National Weather Service meteorologist in Wakefield. He said the telephone company was working to repair the problem and that radios should be receiving alerts, advisories, watches and warnings again by sometime today.
